Astaxanthin

Astaxanthin( pronounced asta-zan-thin) is a naturally occurring antioxidant carotenoid, derived from a microalgae called Haematococcus Pluvialis .

Mother Nature created this natural supplement eons ago and it has been present in trace amounts in aquatic ecosystems for over a billion years. Astaxanthin provides the rich pink colour observed in various aquatic species, such as salmon, crabs and lobsters. It is also the substance that turns flamingos pink. This is the reason that all our creams have that distinctive orangey hue.

So why should Astaxanthin be part of your daily skincare routine?

And why is it so effective?

Free radicals are the everyday particles that are harmful to your skin. Simply put, they cause most of the problems that affect your skin, whilst most antioxidants target only one form of free radical, Astaxanthin can handle multiple forms simultaneously.

In terms of eradicating free radicals such as Reactive Oxygen Species Astaxanthin has been shown to be:-

  • 6000 x stronger than Vitamin C
  • 550 x stronger than green tea
  • 550 x stronger than Vitamin E

  • 800 x stronger than CoQ10
  • 75 x stronger than Alpha Lipoic Acid
  • 40 x stronger than Beta-Carotene

That’s pretty effective !!!

Astaxanthin functions as a natural internal sunscreen to prevent UV damage and sunburn. The sun and your natural environment are responsible for the majority of damage to your skin. Astaxanthin gives first class protection against sun damage from both UVA and UVB rays.
But at the same time it operates on many different biochemical levels at once. It can help skin to look younger, prevent skin damage, improve fine lines and wrinkles and work to maintain skin elasticity and moisture content whilst reducing the cell damage which leads to premature ageing.
Clinical trials have shown that Astaxanthin protects the skin whilst allowing it to regenerate. It preserves the integrity of the dermal layer by protecting the collagen network, thereby causing a significant reduction of wrinkles and puffiness.
Astaxanthin is often called the king of carotenoids. Its unique molecular structure means it serves as the best and most powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory discovered to date. This is why we have used this supplement in our formulations. Natures best kept secret is out, pass it on!!
